Most Cariocas, due to the endless summer weather, want to stay out enjoying all the goodness that Rio's environment can offer. We are always moving and thinking about what can we do outside to refresh, stay healthy, tanned and in shape all year long. In every zone of Rio, we are biking and running. In the sea, we are swimming, surfing, kayaking and stand up paddling. In the mountains, we are trekking and climbing. If a new exercise trend comes up, definitely we will try to master it--showing off for everyone everywhere.
I love to run at the Grumari beach in the sand-- running barefoot will always be my favorite work out. After running, I usually have a coconut water and a swim - that's a perfect day to me! At the West Zone of Rio, Grumari is a preserved paradise and a favorite spot for surfers and nature lovers. My second tip is trekking up to the Pedra Bonita (Beautiful Rock) at Gavea, it takes about 60 minutes to complete the 1150 meters. And last, but not least, cycling along the Rio beach coast is breathtaking! You can go from the Flamengo district passing by Botafogo, Copacabana and finish at Arpoador point in Ipanema - considered an easy level due to its flat roads and key points to stop and admire.
It's almost impossible to come to Rio without finding some fun way to exercise. So it's best to leave all your laziness at home and get ready to move!
