Teadora Celebrates Earth Day with Certification as a B Corp™

B Corp™ Certification Highlights Top-Selling Brand's Commitment to Progressive Business Practices, Community Support and Environmental Stewardship

Bellevue, WA, April 21 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ - Teadora Beauty (www.teadorabeauty.com), a family-owned maker of natural body, hair and skin care products, is proud to announce certification as a B Corp™.  The prestigious designation is awarded to new companies which use the power of business to solve social and environmental problems and meet the highest standards of social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability.  B Corp Certification® validates Teadora's commitment to building natural, vegan and cruelty-free products made in the US, with respect for the ecosystem of employees, suppliers, communities, consumers, and the environment.

Teadora’s goal with its’ unique line of products, infused with unique ingredients and superfoods from the Brazilian Amazon Rainforest, is to share these Brazilian Beauty Secrets™ with the US consumer while creating more awareness and activism to help fight deforestation.  Teadora is committed to promoting and modeling transparency, progressive business practices and sustainability programs that help strengthen local Amazon communities. This commitment is underscored by our approach to sourcing, which includes wild and beach harvested components, as well as regular contributions to charitable and activist causes, including supporting fair trade, indigenous rights, animal welfare and fighting habitat destruction. “When strong local communities have a dependable and sustainable economic relationship with the forest, the trees are worth more standing than cut” says Valeria Cole, Founding CEO of Teadora.

There are currently only 1,660 Certified B Corps™ in the world. Teadora chose to become a Certified B Corp™ because the B Corp™ Certification provides a great third-party measurement tool to help benchmark and increase our impact, as well as give consumers more information and transparency in order to make the best choices.  To become a Certified B Corp™, B Lab, the nonprofit that certifies B Corps™ and supports companies using business as a force for good, conducted a rigorous evaluation of Teadora and determined the company met the comprehensive performance standards to qualify for certification. In this process Teadora answered more than 250 questions about its business practices and had those answers verified by B Lab. Teadora scored an overall 138 points, compared to the minimum standard needed for certification of 80 points, and the median score for all applicant companies of 55. "We are proud to be a member of the growing community of businesses committed to integrity, community, and environmental stewardship.  This certification allows us to have a more productive, transparent and measureable conversation with employees, customers, and suppliers about social and environmental impact.  We will certainly learn from, and hopefully inspire, other companies on this journey.” said Thomas Moran, Chairman of Teadora.

B CorpCertification is to business what Fair Trade certification is to coffee or USDA Organic certification is to orange juice. Certified B Corps™ are for-profit companies certified by the nonprofit B Lab to meet rigorous standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency. A company has to meet a minimum performance benchmark aggregated across all categories to become certified. Today, there is a growing community of more than 1,500 Certified B Corps from 42 countries and over 120 industries working together toward 1 unifying goal: to use business as a force for good.

Teadora makes a full line of performance-proven naturals for body, hair and skin care, made in the US from sustainably harvested Amazon Rainforest superfruits such as Buriti, Açaí, Andiroba, Cupuaçu, babassu and pitanga, among others.  Founded by Valeria Cole, originally born in Brazil, these superfruits were part of a daily healthy lifestyle, and instilled in Valeria a tremendous respect for the people, plants and animals of the Amazon Rainforest.
