Prevention Natural Beauty Awards 2017

Our Criteria

The winning products:

  • Contain mostly ingredients sourced from nature rather than created in a lab
  • Don't contain compounds that have been linked to toxic reactions in humans, including parabens, phthalates, and synthetic dyes, colors, and fragrance
  • Were judged to be highly effective by our panel of dermatologists and 50 product testers
  • Were released within the past 12 months

Soap

WINNER: Even testers who ordinarily don't use bar soap raved about the luxe lather and skin-softening power of the TEADORA FACE & BODY TONING BAR ($10 for 5 oz, shop.prevention.com), which is made with Brazilian superfruit oils and coffee butter.

RUNNER-UP: One tester was thrilled to trade her hand, face, and body soap for the multitasking SKINOWL MATCHA BEAUTY BAR ($24 for 4.5 oz, shop.prevention.com); it has matcha and other green teas to kill bacteria, plus oils and butters to soften skin.

HONORABLE MENTION: One fan of URSA MAJOR MORNING MOJO BAR SOAP ($14 for 5.6 oz, amazon.com) described its peppermint aroma as "invigorating and helped me to breathe deeply in the morning."

Conditioner

WINNER: Detangling, smoothing, and hydrating were the top selling points among testers of TEADORA RAINFOREST YOUTH ELIXIR MIRACLE CONDITIONER ($28 for 12 oz, shop.prevention.com). They also loved the "clean, natural smell" and great air-drying results.

RUNNER-UP: The glycerin-quinoa EVO MANE TAMER SMOOTHING CONDITIONER ($33 for 10.1 oz, evohair.com) "made my hair so soft and smooth," said one tester.
